Coupon codes and cashback portals are individually useful — but most shoppers use them separately, missing the significant additional saving available when both are applied to the same purchase. Stacking means applying multiple saving mechanisms to a single transaction: a current sale price, a coupon code that reduces it further, a cashback portal that returns a percentage of the final amount, and a rewards credit card that earns points on top. Done correctly on a £200 purchase, this stack can produce £40–60 in combined savings that no single mechanism would have delivered alone.
Before building your stack, know what each retailer allows to combine:
Almost always stackable:
Sometimes restricted:
The rule: Always attempt the stack — if a coupon doesn't apply during a sale, you'll be told at checkout. Never skip the attempt because you assume it won't work.
Step 1 — Find the current deal:
Check Lootism's live deals for the retailer you're shopping at. If there's a current promotion (10% off, free shipping, bundle deal), confirm it applies to your items. This is your base price.
Step 2 — Find a coupon code:
Search Lootism's coupon database for active codes at this retailer. Filter by recently verified codes — an active code with recent user confirmation is much more reliable than a code that may have expired.
If Lootism doesn't have a code for this retailer, also check: the retailer's own email list (sign up before checking out — welcome discount codes are immediate), Google for "[retailer name] promo code [current month/year]", and the Honey browser extension (auto-tests codes at checkout).
Step 3 — Activate cashback:
Before navigating to the retailer's website, go to your cashback portal first:
Check both Rakuten/Quidco and TopCashback rates — they frequently differ for the same retailer, sometimes significantly. 30 seconds of comparison is worth the effort on orders over £30.
Step 4 — Shop and add to cart:
Browse and add items normally. Don't navigate away from the retailer once cashback is activated — opening a new tab to the retailer or clicking through a different link can break the tracking cookie.
Step 5 — Apply the coupon at checkout:
At checkout, enter your coupon code in the promotional code field. If it applies, the discount shows immediately. If it doesn't apply (code expired, excluded category, minimum order not met), try the next best code from your list before abandoning the attempt.
Step 6 — Pay with your best rewards card:
Choose the credit card that earns the highest reward rate for this type of purchase. If this is a clothing purchase and your card earns 3% on fashion, use that card. If it's a general purchase, use your flat-rate best rewards card.
Step 7 — Track your cashback:
Cashback typically shows as "pending" in your portal within 24–72 hours. If it doesn't appear within 3 days, contact the cashback platform with your order number — missing cashback can usually be manually tracked if you report promptly.
